Combi valve/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

CEL came on in my 2013 2.5 Jetta. Brought to dealer to have diagnosed quoted me to replace Combi valve. Could not afford dealer to do it so did myself. Changing valve went well but, CEL is still on even disconnected battery during swap.
My questions are
Will the code clear on its own?
Do I need a scanner to clear code?
Could possibly there be another issue?

Thanks in advanced?
