Default Left front axle question

Hello all:
2001 VW Jetta VR6. Just had the driver's side axle disintegrate on my son.
My biggest concern is that there was transmission fluid (or oil of some type) dripping from under the car.

When that let go, what else could have been ruined in the process?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Probably trans fluid from the axle seal, will need replaced as well.
It is oil, RED in color.

Depending on how it went, the axle bearing could have been damaged.
That's a whole different ball-game... If the axle hit the ground, and was
trusted back to the trans, yeah.... That would also break the seal, and
possibly damage the bearing...
